Upcoming Album Releases Week 13

A couple of albums will de dropping tomorrow as you can see in the calender on the left. The internet wouldn't be the internet if there weren't already a bunch of tracks floating around for different reasons.

We all know that there are already some tracks online of the Wu-Massacre album, but also Erykah Badu and Murs released music to warm us up for the upcoming albums. Check out a large selection of clips and music after the jump.

So yeah.. The lead up to the release for this album is just crazy. First they release a gangster style teaser movie complete with the whole shabangabang;

The next thing that hit the web was the Meth vs Chef part II;

and then Dangerous dropped;

There are already some more things that circulate the web regarding this album. The artwork to this album for example is straight up SICK.

Murs & 9th Wonder - Fornever

Murs & 9th always have an amazing chemistry. This is the fourth album that 9th produced for Murs, and I'm looking forward to it for real. They did a 3:16 part 2 which can be found already on the net;

Erykah Badu - New Amerykah pt II

Erykah Badu says the album is called "Part II" because unlike 2008's more conscious-driven New Amerykah Part I: 4th World War, she is more free and full of life this time around. She worked with ?uestlove on a couple of tracks, and 9th Wonder also produced for the album. For potential leaks she stated that if anything leaks, she won't be putting out the album. Her words:
"I worked too hard for that to happen.
Let a bitch make some money some kind of way."

Still offcourse there was a leak, the track Window Seat (which she worked on with ?uestlove) hit the net around februari;

Tech N9ne

The Tech N9ne Lost Scripts of K.O.D. that will also drop tomorrow, will be an EP featuring 5 tracks. Rumours are that 3 6 Mafia will be on there as wel. All I know is that he did a track with Corey Tailor from Slipknot last year which was pretty hardcore. It won't be on the album though;

D-Nice (you know.. "just call me D-Nice") drops these clips everyonce in a while on youtube called True HipHop Story's. Every clip features an emcee who tells a story about one of the better known tracks he or she did. There are storys from Big Daddy Kane, Lords Of The Underground, Special Ed, B-Real, Buckshot and more.

All of them are really interesting, but there is one clip I watched which I really wanted to share with you all. It's about an homeless emcee in the streets of New York. He tells us something about his past, and it's pretty rough. Halfway into the video, he starts talking about HipHop, and you can really see that this guy has a lot of heart. Plus.. He can also rhyme! What is HipHop

As you all can see in the video I posted above, nobody actually makes a real statement. Nobody says "this is HipHop, that ain't HipHop"

In reality, that is the beauty of this culture.. Nobody knows exactly what it is, but at the same time we all know. The more you know, the more you don't understand..

HipHop is a culture offcourse, with the 4 elemtents;
BBoying
MCing
DJing
Graffiti

I honestly don't have a clue on whoever decided that those are the 4 elements to this culture, but I do agree with him.

But still.. nowadays, if someone says to me that he or she is HipHop the chances of me taking that person serious are little.. Sounds a bit weird maybe, but it's true.. That's because everyone wants to be HipHop. And u can't blame them. HipHop is the most positive and inteligent subculture out there if you really take the time to understand it and seek knowledge.
HipHop to me is a feeling you have, something you live, a positive thing! None of the gangster stuff you see a lot nowadays. That has nothing to do with HipHop.
Some examples of things you see a lot nowadays are;
People on public transportation who use their phone as a boombox and making way to much noise, consider themselve HipHop
People who walk the streets like they own them, and try to impress women with stupid degrading phrases like 'pppppsssssttt', consider themselve HipHop
People who don't dance in clubs, but are leaning against the wall looking tuff, consider themselve HipHop
People who smoke spliffs like they are cigarettes, consider themselve HipHop
People who start beefs and fights over stupid shit, consider themselve HipHop

I can give you more examples, but I hope you get the picture.
The thing is.. none of those people are HipHop.
The ultimate evidence to this, is HipHop itself, it's a positive thing!
Why use your phone as a boombox, when you can just plug in some headphones so you don't unnecasserry piss people off.. not everyone likes your music. Plus the soundquality is way better when you just put on headphones.
Why walk the streets like you own them and try to pick up girls with stupid shit. If I walke down the street, I'm on my way to something. If I wanna pick up girls, I got normal ways to do it.
Why lean against a wall in a club, and not dance. If I'm at a club, I will be dancing. If I wanted to lean against a wall and don't want to dance, I would have stayed at home.
Why smoke more weed then necassery, and be stoned all the time, when you can just chill with some music, some friends, maybe a BBQ in the park and maybe a couple of beers. Weed makes you slow.
Why start beef or a fight over some small stupid shit. If someone accidently steps on my toes or something, be reasonable.. It can happen to anyone, it wasn't on purpose.

Those are the things I personally would do, but I think many HipHop heads agree with me on this. HipHop is a positive way of life. If I got an off day, and am feeling really down, a good HipHop track can actually turn my spirit and energy around and I'll be ready again for whatever. That's HipHop. Peace, Unity, Love & Having Fun..

Offsourse everyone has a fucked up day every once in a while that even some good HipHop music can't cure. But don't start bitching.. Get a positive mindstate again. That's what HipHop is about, stay positive, seek knowledge, each one teach one and so on.. That's HipHop.. with 2 capital 'H's.. out of the respect I got for it!

Doc Ish - The First Treatment

On the 11th of May, Grammy Award winning producer DOC ISH will drop The First Treatment LP.
The LP will feature Jay Electronica, Joe Budden, Crooked I, Sean Price, Joell Ortiz, Talib Kweli, Bun B, Max B, Saigon, Nipsey Hussle, KRS-One, Kool G Rap, Buckshot, Bizarre and many more..

A bit of a transient, Doc Ish is from a little bit of everywhere. Born in Dallas, TX, then onto places such as Virginia, and Brooklyn NY and everywhere in between, it has been Hartford, CN that Doc has always returned to and calls home. Doc signed his first deal as a senior in High-School and soon thereafter moved to NY where he was introduced to a slew of industry talents and had the opportunity to work with artists such Heavy D, Kurupt and Foxy Brown to name a few.

Since then, Doc has lost a lot of time, “years,” in regards to his music career. For years, he was jumping from doctor to doctor, hospital to hospital, trying to figure out why his health would take such dramatic shifts and leave him in an almost debilitating state. Lying in hospital beds, with nothing but time on his hands while his various health problems were both diagnosed and treated, Doc’s health eventually got better and when it did, so did his hunger for making music. When Doc re-entered the scene in 2008, he did so with a renewed vigor and his networking lead to meetings with various artists, one of which, D-12’s Bizarre, would eventually change his world as he then knew it upside down. After recording sessions with Bizarre, Doc received a call from him that a certain Detroit superstar heard one of his tracks and immediately gravitated to it. That track was what you know as “We Made You” the lead-single from Eminem’s Grammy award winning LP Relapse, which has since gone 2X Platinum and re-vaulted Eminem back into the national spotlight after a five-year hiatus.

Despite the overwhelming changes that have occurred since “We Made You” hit the masses, Doc Ish has remained humble and hungry throughout the process and is determined to capitalize on the opportunity and use it as a stepping-stone. The timing and subsequent spotlight that has been affixed to Doc’s back ever since was ideal for the forthcoming release of Doc Ish Presents: The First Treatment which will be released on 5-11-2010.

The First Treatment includes a collection of iconic and legendary emcees that would make a major label blush, let alone one of an Independent nature. While “Cut My Throat” f/Saigon, INS Deck, Ransom and Quan has already made an immediate impact on the urban blogosphere, fans are already salivating over the LP’s assortment of talent and eagerly awaiting to hear tracks such as the dream-team pairings of Jay Electronica, Crooked I & Sean Price (“She Did It Again”) and Bun B, Joe Budden and Talib Kweli on “Is It A Dream.”

I got a message in my inbox saying;

As you can see in the beautifull calendar I added to the blog yesterday, LMNO will drop an album on april the 13th. The good news, is that it's not the only thing he will be releasing this year.

Pharaohe Monch prepares for W.A.R.

Pharoahe Monch is on the front lines once again and this time it's bigger than just album talk. Monch is gearing up to release his new project W.A.R. (We Are Renegades) through a partnership with Duck Down Music, while establishing his company W.A.R. Media as a viable entertainment portal. W.A.R. is the follow-up album to Pharoahe's "Desire" project from 2007. Fans can expect what they've come to love from Pharoahe on the new LP; complex rapping techniques that are both intricate and intelligent.

Monch states, "I'm incredibly excited about my upcoming release W.A.R. (We Are Renegades) and my new partnership between my company W.A.R. Media, LLC, and Duck Down Music. This album deals with conflicts and resolutions of the spirit, the soul, the government, and the industry among other things. Thus far it features Living Colour guitarist Vernon Reid, Jean Grae, Styles P, Phonte, Black Thought, with more to come. It also features production from M-Phazes, Marco Polo, Mike Low, Fatin, Lee Stone, Exile and others to be announced. R.I.P. NUJABES

Sad News.. Japanese producer Nujabes (you might know him from the Samurai Champloo music) recently passed away. He was involved in a car crash.
My condolences to all his friends and family.

"Today, I have very somber news for the international hip hop community, especially fans of the independent hip hop scene, and those who have followed my career.
It has been announced that Jun Seba, aka Nujabes, Japanese hip hop producer extraordinaire, passed away late February.
We deeply regret the loss of a unique talent and a close friend. Through his soulful music, Nujabes has touched so many people around the world, even beyond his dreams. He was a mysterious character to most as he avoided the public limelight, rarely conducted interviews, so only a few got to know the man behind the signature production. Yet it continued to amaze me how young listeners of all backgrounds learned of his enigmatic name, and expressed support for his music.
As I write now from Japan, I had been leaving him messages the past couple of weeks, trying to get in the studio together, so the news could not have come any more unexpected. Even last week, I passed by his house and called him thinking he was still home.
I met Nujabes around 2000 and as an upcoming MC, I was fortunate to work on tracks such as Battlecry, F.I.L.O, Luv(sic) parts 1, 2 and 3. We had been working on the next trilogy of Luv(sic) over the past year (which we’re determined to see through). The last time we talked in January, Nujabes emailed me to wish Jeff Resurreccion, a 19-year old beatboxer who had just passed way from cancer, his heartfelt condolences.
While we continue to respect the privacy of his family, we will work to preserve his legacy, and pay tribute to the body of work, some unreleased, that he has left for us to enjoy. Jun Seba will be dearly missed by his family, friends, colleagues, and fans worldwide.

Remember a little while back, the media declared a little kind of war on Lauren Hill? Saying she was crazy and what not.. A couple of days later, her bass player was shot by an 'accident'..

Now I'm not the kind of guy who believes in all these types of conspiracies you got going on allmost everywhere.. People make up the weirdest things and build conspiracy theories.. most of them are just a little too far fetched..

But in the case of Lauren.. I don't believe she is in fact crazy.. Besides being a great and amazing artist, she also always portrayed herself to be intelligent.. and for someone to portray herselve as intelligent, you gotta be at least.. well.. Intelligent..

I don't want to go into some theories that are out there, like some people who claim that the media war on Lauren was directed in a way by the Illuminati or the Freemasons..
But when you look at the facts..

Didn't all of this started right after she exposed the industry in the MTV unplugged session posted below?

Share ur thoughts on this subject.. Maybe we can get a little discussion going..

DJ Doo Wop - 95 Live I & II

I listened to these mixes today again, and just had to edit the post. I just had some extra things to say about the mixes. Cuz see.. there was a time, when the rap artists you heard on the radio, could actually rap. They had skills, the skills did not go unnoticed, which lead to record deals and commercial airplay. The beautifull things was, that even though these cats were known, they were still very aware of the underground massive movement. Now u could say that the mixes DooWoop did, almost fall into the category of commercialism or whatever.. But the fact remains, that because it were mixtapes with raw MC's, unique new tracks etc. on them they were still underground spread on tape.

DooWop never got the fame and the money some of the MC's spitting on his tapes did, and he kept doing them.. out of LOVE. I read in several interviews with DooWop that all the MC's on his tapes approached him asking him if they could rhyme on his tape, free of charge (from JayZ to Biggie, from KRS to Mobb Deep, from M.O.P to WuTang etc). Real Recognize Real. HipHop will never die, because I and maaany more LOVE it. Like Black Thought said:

This is how the first "Love Break" came about - just a mix for me to listen to in my car during a road trip. Anyway, a few weeks ago, I woke up and it was a beautiful day, the sun was shining, the temperature was just right. It made me think of a certain sound that just means "spring/summer" to me, so before I headed out I made this mix to listen to while I ran around New York. It's a promotional mix for the FUN DMC album by People Under The Stairs. These guys always drop straight up good party good vibe HipHop. Thes1 is always AMAZING on the beats (check the DJ Dusk Soundclash DVD if u need proof.. and remember that is was filmed in 2001, 8 years ago). Double K his rhymes are always on point and flow wise nobody can complain. I first peeped some of their tracks about 6 years ago, and ever since, they are a group to keep an eye out for. This is a mix done by DJ Seiji called Crates Diggaz Lesson 1. The mix is known and lesser known HipHop tracks mixed together, but the beauty is, that he starts of with the original sample, and then mixes it into the track it was used on.

It starts of with the original sample of Gangstarr's "Above The Clouds" followed up, by the actual "above the clouds" track. Furthermore it features Common tracks like "Go", Royce da 5'9's "BOOM", Kanye's "Diamonds are Forever", Big Punishers tribute to Puerto Rico, Talib's "Around my Way" and, like mentioned before, all the originals used for the tracks I just summed up. The mix ends with -for the lady's- a Beyonce original followed by the Beyonce joint.. Secretly I was hoping he mixed it into the Athletic Mic League track, who also used the sample.. Oh well.. it's a DOPE mix nonetheless!

On August the 28 DJ AM was found dead in his appartment in NYC. The cause of death is yet to be confirmed. Rest In Piece AM!

Some say he was the biggest “celebrity DJ” in the US.. He rocked party's in Las Vegas, NYC and LA and more.. Some say he was the one to take mash-up remixes to the next level, mashing up HipHop with Rock music, and always contributing real turntablism to the tracks. He will surely be missed in the HipHop World!

A mix once again from pipomixes. This time a mix of one single artist, MF DOOM.
One of the, if not the, illest character in HIPHOP nowadays.

Here's what the maker of the mix has to say about it;

A few months back I went through Doom's entire catalog of material while flying across the country. After listening to Doom 24/7 for a good two weeks, I could just hear this mix coming together without ever laying hands on a turntable. This is what I ended-up mixing once I returned home and got back on my tables. Thank you to those of you who hooked me up with a couple of instrumentals that were essential to the making of this mix. Like all of my mixes, a lot of time, thought, and energy went into crafting this effort. I hope you all enjoy the mix as much as I enjoyed making it.

Kid Grebo - Paul C Lives

Paul C was a producer, probably best known for his work on the Ultramagnetic MC's 'Critical Beatdown' album. Paul C also worked for many other artists including Grandmaster Caz, Super Lover Cee & Casanova Rud, Stezo, and Rahzel. He also served as a mentor to Large Professor in the use of the E-mu SP-1200. He overheard a recording session of a new local group named Simply Too Positive and offered to produce its entire demo. Simply Too Positive eventually became Organized Konfusion and its demo created a major buzz around the group. He was shot dead at age 24 in 1989.
Still to this day every once in a while a DJ drops a mixtape dedicated to him. This time it's KID GREBO. Big Ups to him!
